St. Nicholas Day, Monday December 5
The tradition of St. Nicholas is not synonymous with the role of Santa Claus in North America. As practiced in many European countries, the celebration of St. Nicholas is separate from the Christmas holidays, and occurs during the 2 weeks prior to December 6th, which is St. Nicholas's day. Sometimes St. Nicholas Day is the main holiday for gift giving, and not Christmas.
On the eve of St. Nicholas Day (Dec. 5th this year) many children place a shoe or boot by the fireplace in hopes that it will be filled with delicious holiday edibles in the morning. If they have not been good, their shoe is filled with twigs.

We invite all children to come to the Toronto Christmas Market on the eve of St. Nicholas Day and share in the tradition.

Please join us at 6pm for an official appearance by St. Nicholas himself, arriving on his white horse, and hear the tales of this special tradition.

Sankta Lucia Celebration, Wednesday December 14
The Swedish tradition of Saint Lucia, marks the beginning of the Christmas season and symbolizes the return of lighter days.  Sankta Lucia is a shining angel illuminating the way to the Christmas season. The tradition is marked by a procession of children lead by Saint Lucia, a girl dressed in a long white gown with a red sash and a crown of candles followed by the performance of traditional Christmas songs.
Please join us at our mainstage for this very special Swedish celebration on Wednesday, December 14th at 6 pm. Presented by the Swedish School of Halton.

The 3D-CGI feature Dr. Seuss' The Lorax is an adaptation of Dr. Seuss' classic tale of a forest creature who shares the enduring power of hope. The animated adventure follows the journey of a boy as he searches for the one thing that will enable him to win the affection of the girl of his dreams. To find it he must discover the story of the Lorax, the grumpy yet charming creature who fights to protect his world.

Dr. Seuss' The Lorax will be at the Toronto Christmas Market roaming Santa's Lane on December 3rd starting at 12:30pm
